Bee mimic fly (Possibly Comptosia praeargentata) uses brushes on the end of her abdomen to clear a spot in which to lay her eggs. Flying low over dirt and small rocks, she first uses the brushes to find the right location. She whips her abdomen rapidly from side to side to clear away loose sand before laying. Agnes Water, Qld.
